Installing the DynaCenter Software

Before you can begin to migrate servers, you must install the DynaCenter software.

Install the Base DynaCenter Software

  1. Mount the DynaCenter installation media to the MWS.

    mount -o loop DynaCenter_6.x.x-x.iso /mnt

  2. Navigate to the software directory:

    cd /mnt/6.x.x

  3. As a user with root permissions, type the following command to install the software:

    ./dc-install --no-client-network --non-interactive

  4. Unmount the media:

    umount /mnt

  5. Log out of the MWS server and then log back in.

During the installation, DynaCenter configures certain environmental variables; logging out and then logging back in ensures that the changes take effect.

Install the DynaCenter Cloud Module

  1. Mount the DynaCenter Cloud installation media:

    mount -o loop DynaCenter_Cloud_6.x.x.x-x.iso /mnt

  2. Navigate to the software directory:

    cd /mnt/6.x.x

  3. As a user with root permissions, type the following command to install the software:

    ./cloud-install

  4. Unmount the media:

    umount /mnt

Install the DynaCenter License

DynaCenter comes with a default license that allows you to perform licensed operations for three days. To ensure that your access to licensed operations is uninterrupted, you must install a product license before the default license expires.

Obtaining a DynaCenter license

  1. If you do not already have a DynaCenter product license, go to the Racemi on-line license request portal:

    http://support.racemi.com/support/RenewStandardLicense.html

  2. Provide the requested information.

  3. Click Renew License.

After the license renewal is approved, the license will be mailed to the contact email submitted as part of the request process.

  4. Review the content of the email to ensure that the information is correct.

Installing a license

  1. After you receive your product license, place the dynacenterLicense.xml file in the /opt/race/share/conf directory on the MWS.
  2. Log in to the MWS as a user with root permissions.
  3. Type the following command to stop all DynaCenter services:

    dcctl stop

This will not disrupt any of your managed servers, but the system will not respond to new server boot requests while the license upgrade is in process.

  4. Type the following command to load the new license:
    /opt/race/bin/rimportlicensefile /opt/race/share/conf/dynacenterLicense.xml
  5. Type the following command to start all DynaCenter services:

    dcctl start

You should be back on line with the new license installed.
