New Features and Enhancements
DynaCenter now provides a file monitoring sync mode, which tracks file system changes in real-time and thereby significantly reduces the time needed to complete a sync operation.
The DynaCenter Console now allows you to temporarily override certain settings in a migration template directly from the user interface so that you can easily customize the migration operation for an individual server. Template overrides simplify the management of migration templates and ensure that each migrated server is appropriately configured for your environment.
The DynaCenter Agent (DPAD) now runs environmental checks after it is installed on a source server to validate that the environment meets certain minimum requirements and that the server is ready to be captured. Checks include minimum available RAM, minimum free disk space, that SELinux is disabled, and that there is connectivity between the agent and the Management Workstation (MWS) among others.
The DynaCenter installer now verifies that SELinux is disabled on the Management Work Station (MWS) before the DynaCenter installation is allowed to proceed.
The DynaCenter Console now supports archiving individual servers in addition to archiving entire waves of servers.
Search capabilities in the DynaCenter Console now make it possible to easily identify content of interest in the Migration view.
DynaCenter now supports migrating server images to the Amazon M4 Instance Type, the latest generation of General Purpose Instances that provide a balance of compute, memory, and network resources.
When capturing an image of a Microsoft Windows server, DynaCenter uses the Windows Shadow Copy Service (or VSS) to create a stable and consistent image snapshot that ensures file and application consistency in the captured image. DynaCenter now creates the volume shadow copy for each volume simultaneously, ensuring that capture and syncing operations that span multiple volumes are always performed from stable and consistent images.
Enhancements to DynaCenter provide better performance for both Windows and Linux capture and deploy operations.
DynaCenter now installs the latest EC2Config tools when deploying images to Amazon environments.
Numerous error messages were updated to provide better assistance for self-remediation of issues encountered during DynaCenter operations.
Fixed a timing issue where, under very specific circumstances, the temporary deploy subnet specified for a migration into an Amazon VPC environment was not always available when needed, which could cause migration operations to not complete successfully.
Fixed an issue where DynaCenter was installing a more current version of the XenCitrix drivers than IBM SoftLayer uses in the vendor images they provide; this could cause IBM SoftLayer image templates to not deploy successfully when using the IBM SoftLayer image cloning mechanism.
Occasionally, under very specific circumstances, DynaCenter would indicate that a capture operation had completed successfully when there was actually some data missing from the captured image. Subsequent deploy operations would fail because the image was corrupt. DynaCenter now runs image integrity checks during each capture operation to ensure that all data is properly captured.
Fixed an issue where deploy operations might not complete successfully if the size of the file systems being deployed was exactly the same as, or very close to, the size of the disks on the target server.
Fixed an issue where, under very specific circumstances, the page count indicator on the Servers page would reflect the incorrect number of pages.
