New Features and Enhancements
DynaCenter is now available from the AWS Marketplace, an online store that makes it easy to install, configure, and immediately start using DynaCenter to migrate servers.
DynaCenter migration operations now complete in up to 40% less time with the introduction of the new Rapid Migration Engine.
When DynaCenter is installed on an Management Workstation (MWS) that is located on a subnet that can be accessed from the destination subnet where migrated servers will reside, such as a dedicated tools subnet or the destination subnet itself, a deploy subnet is no longer needed for the migration operation. This new capability reduces the effort needed to set up the migration environment and simplifies the configuration of migration operations.
A new template editor, which is accessed directly from the user interface, simplifies the template creation process and significantly mitigates the risk of template configuration errors.
The template override editor has been expanded to offer support for customization of all template settings. This expanded capability means that any template setting can now be overridden directly from the user interface so that you can easily customize the migration operation for an individual server.
You can now download the DynaCenter Agent directly from the DynaCenter Console onto the system where you are logged in to the DynaCenter Console.
After you upgrade and then log in to theDynaCenter Console, older-generation templates located in the
/opt/race/console/templates/ directory on the Management Workstation (MWS) are automatically upgraded to the newer-generation format, thereby reducing the impact of this upgrade to customers and preserving any previously configured templates.
Improved compatibility with SELinux, a Linux kernel security module that provides a mechanism for supporting access control security policies, allows DynaCenter to be installed on a Management Workstation (MWS) that has SELinux running in permissive mode.
DynaCenter now supports migrating images to the c4.large, c4.xlarge, c4.2xlarge, c4.4xlarge, and c4.8xlarge Amazon instances for both the SSD and magnetic EBS-backed volume types. This expanded support provides you with more options when migrating into an Amazon environment.
Fixed an issue where, under very specific conditions, there could be a port conflict between DynaCenter and other third party software installed on the Management Workstation (MWS).
Fixed an issue where, under very specific conditions, a Windows live deploy operation could not complete successfully because the disk layout of the target server was misaligned with the disk layout of the source server.
Fixed an issue where, under very specific conditions, DynaCenter would incorrectly set the created time stamp of files and folders on a migrated server.
Deploys Specifying ‘auto’ Server Size and EBS Encryption Now Select Server Size that Supports Encryption
Fixed an issue where DynaCenter would incorrectly choose a server size that did not support encrypted EBS volumes when a customer specified a server size of ‘auto’ and requested encrypted non-boot EBS volumes within a deploy profile.
Fixed an issue where, under very specific conditions, DynaCenter would not correctly release an elastic IP within the deploy subnet when migrating to a VPC.
Fixed an issue where, under very specific conditions, DynaCenter would not correctly initiate a final reboot of a migrated server at the end of the migration process.
